Press release from: Unique Image, Inc.

Unique Image, a turnkey integrated brand marketing and print media solutions agency based in Northridge, California was recently recognized with one of Syria’s highest honors of distinction during the media and cultural delegation to Syria.
In their second delegation to Syria, with a mission to steer tourism into the land and continue to strengthen relations between Syria and the U.S., Unique Image and a broad-based group of North American journalists had a chance to experience the 2nd Annual Silk Road Festival and become intimately familiar with one of the most historical locations among the world’s cradles of civilization.
During the Silk Road Festival, Unique Image, Inc. was awarded the prestigious Silk Road Crystal Vision Award for distinction in promoting Syria to the West during an intensive 2009 media campaign. Among the 19 award winners, Unique Image was the only foreign company to receive this award for their cooperation in activating media coverage of Syrian Tourism and captivating world traveler’s enthusiasts.
“It’s extremely rewarding to be acknowledged for our efforts in 2009 and 2010,” says Michael Lloyd, Vice President of Unique Image, Inc. “Our mission to showcase forgotten, yet burgeoning tourism destinations is on the fast track. We are honored that our vision, strategy and efforts are contributing to the amazing growth of tourism from the West into Syria.”
Syria is one of the 15 cradles of civilization bridging the cultures of the Mediterranean and the Fertile Crescent. Syria lies at the eastern end of the Mediterranean, between Lebanon and Turkey providing striking natural scenery, rugged mountain with peaks covered of snow, green valleys, desertscapes and a gorgeous coast consisting of long stretches of beach and green mountains. It’s most vital resources are petroleum and natural gas. Syria also showcases magnificent ancient ruins in the middle of the desert, medieval castles, fortresses and rich Arabian culture with a taste for traditional art such as dance, literature and handicraft.
Syria’s tourism sector shows great potential and the number of tourists who visit the country each year is on the rise. “The excellent work of our North American Delegation has led to a 48% increase in tourism from the United States already this year and there are still three months left; this is a quick accomplishment for Syria,” His Excellency Dr. Saadallah Agha Alqalah, Syrian Minister of Tourism said at the opening Silk Road press conference.
Founder and President of Unique Image, Wafa Kanan, has been a tireless advocate of building bridges of understanding and commonality between the U.S. and the Middle East. Her commitment to advancing the interest of expatriates and the diverse culture of Middle Eastern heritage have been evidenced through her first breakthrough publication catering to this unique culture ALO magazine and through her decades-long philanthropic work culminated in founding the ALO Cultural Foundation in 2008, whose mission is to educate, empower and enlighten members of underserved global communities. “We have a misconceived idea of the Middle East here in the United States, and by focusing on person-to-person contact and cultural experiences, the Middle East will leverage positivity and tighten global and economic strategies between both regions” said Kanan.
