Partnership between Coextant Systems and PDFTron: Automated PDF/A conversion and metadata stamping for SharePoint

The partnership enables Coextant to tightly embed PDFTron’s PDF/A Manager within its universal document conversion and publishing service for SharePoint—Hyper.Net SharePoint Edition—for the purpose of extending it with the specialized PDF/A capabilities needed to efficiently and reliably satisfy regulatory requirements for automated enterprise archiving and third-party information exchange on the SharePoint platform. PDFTron gains through the partnership greater access to the SharePoint market.

Hyper.Net SharePoint Edition—a mature, Web Services-based product that has been successfully deployed by enterprises around the world since the earliest days of SharePoint—automatically and simultaneously converts documents managed in SharePoint into every standard format required by key corporate information solutions such as Intranet sites, employee portals, Web sites, online manuals and social networks.

With the extended PDF/A support delivered by PDFTron’s proven PDF/A Manager technology, Hyper.Net SharePoint Edition offers businesses a unique, fully automated solution for quickly complying with stringent archiving and other regulatory requirements on the SharePoint platform. A prominent strength of the solution is its ability to ensure the production of valid PDF/A files enhanced through:

- Conversion: PDF/A files can be generated from nearly any document format including PDF
- Watermarking: PDF/A files can be produced with custom watermarks containing static or calculated images and text on all or on selected pages
- Metadata stamping: PDF/A files can be stamped with document or calculated metadata on the first or on all pages
- Document compounding: A single PDF/A file with its own, unique watermarks and metadata stamps can be automatically assembled from an unlimited number of source documents on demand (for the compilation of a dossier, for example), or based on an event (when a component document is modified, for example)
- Automated storage & archiving: The resulting PDF/A files can be stored back into their original SharePoint libraries, published into shadow libraries or automatically transferred to external archiving systems

Hyper.Net SharePoint Edition is available for both Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services.
