Dura Composites Launch New Fire-Rated & Slip-Resistant Decking Ranges with Substance as Well as Style

Award-winning composites supplier, Dura Composites, has expanded its Dura Deck range to include Dura Deck Resist, a fire-rated, colour fade resistant and highly slip resistant board, as well as a new and improved Dura Deck Eco collection.

Dura Deck Eco is available in two widths and in three colours: teak, charcoal and stone. The range has been design engineered to reach the highest standard for wood plastic composite decking and is produced to be both ecological and economical.

Dura Deck Resist is available in six colours to suit all tastes, all of which feature a stunning deeply embossed wood grain on one side and a light groove on the reverse for maximum versatility. It is Dura Composites’ premium decking board choice for those who require a high specification. This deck is produced via a co-extrusion process with an innovative 360 degree outer armour which protects the core of the deck from the elements, and is colour fade resistant, strength load resistant, stain resistant and also highly slip-resistant.

The term Composite is an umbrella term to describe materials that have been put together to make another substance that is superior than the original form in some way, for example making it stronger, easier to handle or more fire resistant.

Composite Timber has been used in decking for a number of years now, and is typically made from a mixture of recycled hardwood waste and recycled plastic. Pressure and heat are applied to the mix of two materials, which then bonds them into a board that’s more durable than wood alone and doesn’t require annual painting, re-staining or treating.

Dura Composites’ Managing Director, Stuart Burns, explains the importance of selecting the right composite decking.

“Not all composites are created equal. As you can imagine, the quality of the resulting composite decking boards relies on the quality of the materials that went into making them, as well as on the manufacturing process and colour mix used. Products at the cheaper end of the spectrum are prone to scratching and fading and may not have been subjected to the rigorous testing methods that Dura Composites employs, and that customers in 2019 have come to expect.
