ALLISON MEDICAL DONATES 500k INSULIN SYRINGES TO PROJECT C.U.R.E.

October 1, 2010 Littleton, CO. Littleton based Allison Medical, Inc., a privately held manufacturer and distributor of a variety of high-quality medical products recently donated over 500,000 insulin syringes to Project C.U.R.E. Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment) was founded in 1987 to help meet the need for medical supplies, equipment and services around the world.
The generous donation was in response to a request for diabetic supplies for countries that have experienced recent natural disasters and the disruption of their medical supply chain. “Diabetes is difficult enough to manage here in the United States where we have great medical care. We felt that a donation to Project C.U.R.E. would help these people maintain this critical part of their treatment. The debilitating complications are a much more serious if the disease isn’t properly managed. We were able and willing to help,” said Lance Ferrin, President and CEO of Allison Medical.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that over 23.6 million children and adults in the United States – 7.8% of the population - have diabetes and 1.6 million new cases are diagnosed in people aged 20 years and older each year. It is the seventh leading cause of death listed on U.S. death certificates in 2006 and tends to have a higher incidence in individuals of non-white races and ethnicities.
