Flexible Multi-Line Converter for up to 10Gbps from ghip systems
Networking specialist ghip systems from Germany offers a new series of multiple fiber optical converters. The converter "modular CONV 2004/2008" provides four or eight independent converter channels.
Each channel supports transparently all data rates from 100Mbps up to 10Gbps, and is equally suitable for Ethernet, Fibre Channel, or SDH/SONET traffic.
Each channel can be equipped with a pair of SFP or SFP+ modules. Depending on the choice of modules, the conversion will take place between different wavelenghts, cable types and/or ranges of the data transmission.
Using two similar modules on the same channel provides a simple repeater functionality instead.
The device's Link Pass Through feature and the 2R regeneration result in data transparency and allow for an efficient failure localisation.
There are various fields of application for the new converters: transformation between 1310nm LX and 1550nm ZX when upgrading the optical infrastructure, or conversion between single-mode and multi-mode cabling near the connection of a multiple wide-area line, are possible demands. Other applications are the simultaneous CWDM or DWDM conversion of several data streams to xWDM
topology nodes for better utilization of the fiber optical line.
The space-saving construction of 19" 1HU housing allows seamless installation near the existing equipment. The CPU-less device is unmanaged and provides a cost-effective solution for multiple parallel conversion in a small space.
Due to the power supply and fan redundancy as well as the robust architecture, the modular CONV 2004/2008 is also well-prepared for use in environments with demand for high reliability.
The company ghip systems GmbH is developer and manufacturer of network infrastructure technology and telecommunication products with focus on fiber optics and xWDM. All transmission products fit the demands of telcos, carriers, service providers or companies with self-managed network infrastructure.
The company was founded in 2001 by a experienced management and developers team in the telecommunication industry. Ghip systems is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany and is privately owned.
