FastRFID recently completed the installation of a security access control system for gatc LP, a full service provider for innovative international companies entering the U.S. market. As such, the safe-guarding of intellectual property is an important issue. Gatc needed a solution to identify people upon entry/exit, monitor shift workers with time stamping and provide 24-hour controlled access to the offices for their clients.

FastRFID, a Florida based RFID integrator, provided the solution by using the ID MAX50 wall-mounted interrogator by FEIG Electronics, Inc. The units were wired and powered through the existing IP infrastructure via PoE connection. “The installation and configuration for this solution was very simple,” said Pat Korrie, President of Fast RFID. “This unit met all the requirements for the GATC solution.”

The ID MAX50 is an intelligent, standalone access control terminal that can support up to 9000 users. This single, compact Ethernet-based device features a real-time clock, and supports all standard ISO 14443-A/B and ISO 15693 transponders. This unit may be configured to check access permissions offline, if connection to a host system is unavailable.

“The solution provided by FastRFID offered the flexibility and functionality that we require for our various shifts while also accommodating our clients’ needs,” said Stefan Dayagi, Executive Vice President of gatc. “There have also been other benefits that we did not consider initially like a reduced need for staff to monitor the doors and we do not waste time tracking keys like we did before.”

The ID MAX50 units also feature configurable event memory. The open software architecture and compatibility with other FEIG OBID® readers allows the device to be easily incorporated into various applications. Typically, this unit is used for industrial and commercial installations and each unit can be a part of a complex access control system with widely distributed access points.

There are two versions currently available:

The ID MAX50.10-RE has an internal relay and is suitable for the control of doors with medium security requirements.

The ID MAX50.10-E is paired with an external relay to ensure maximum security.
