Linux Magazine Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary
Prize drawing for a free 10-year subscriptionMunich, 04.10.2010 – Linux Magazine celebrates its 10-year anniversary with the November 2010 issue, which includes a free archive DVD with a complete library of all previous issues. The 10-year anniversary issue ships to subscribers worldwide beginning in early October and is also available on newsstands and by order.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary with all readers, one lucky subscriber will be chosen by random selection in January 2011 to get a free 10-year subscription to Linux Magazine! A further 10 subscribers will be picked for free 1-year subscriptions to the Linux Magazine.
In 1994, Linux New Media launched its German flagship publication, Linux-Magazin. In October 2000, the company unveiled a new English publication, Linux Magazine, which is called Linux Pro Magazine in North America. With its in-depth technical articles, practical solutions, hands-on tutorials, and timely reviews, Linux Magazine is known as the international resource for IT professionals who specialize in Linux.
With this anniversary issue, the editorial team celebrates a recent record of strong success despite industry predictions of contractions in print publishing. The company unveiled new quarterly publications in 2009 and 2010, with more growth ahead for 2011.
The unique archive DVD included with the anniversary issue is the biggest and most complete archive ever provided with the magazine. Readers can browse through a complete directory of all previous articles, accessible in HTML or PDF format. A search tool for Firefox browsers lets the user search for topics by key word or text string. The theme for the anniversary issue is Performance Tuning, with feature articles covering techniques for optimizing MySQL, TCP, and Python.
Also included are articles on creating OpenOffice extensions and accessing an iTunes library from the web, as well as the usual mix of columns, such as Zack Brown's Kernel News, Kurt Seifried's popular Security Lessons, and Linux troubleshooting Q&A with Knoppix creator Klaus Knopper. Capping the celebration are exclusive interviews with the parents of Linux creator Linus Torvalds.
