Blueair Celebrates ‘Clean Air for Children’ Day with UAE Schools
Dubai, UAE, December 30, 2018: In wake of the recent research findings highlighting the negative effects of air pollution on children’s mental and physical health, Blueair, a world-leader in air purification solutions, held a ‘Clean air for children’ day at Manzil Centre, an institution for special needs children in Sharjah, and Jumeirah International Nurseries (JINS) Al Safa. As part of this program, the Blueair team spent time with children, staff and parents to raise awareness on how air pollution affects the health of children and how clean air has a positive impact in raising healthy and happy children. Blueair also donated five air purifiers to the schools as part of its CSR initiative.According to a new World Health Organization (WHO) report on air pollution and child health, more than 90% of the world’s children breathe toxic air every day. Children are particularly vulnerable to air pollution as their lungs and brains are still developing. They breathe more rapidly and therefore inhale more air in relation to their body weight. Recent research shows that exposure to air pollution during childhood has a negative effect on children’s respiratory health and cognitive abilities. Breathing clean air on the other hand, can improve learning, physical performance and reduce the risk of asthma and allergies.
“Blueair has a long-standing commitment to improve the health and well-being of children everywhere. The company holds regular awareness-raising activities, best-in-test air purifiers for homes, schools, nurseries and day care centres, as well as through our CSR-program - Clean air for children, where we donate clean air to those who require it the most. We have been working closely with schools and kindergartens across the world to improve air quality, and to educate and inform children, parents and staff about the importance of clean air for children’s physical and cognitive development,” said TR Ganesh, General Manager, Blueair Middle East said
“The ‘Clean air for children’ day is one of our many initiatives in the region to make a positive impact on society and especially our children. Blueair employees volunteer to spend time with children and create awareness through fun activities and games. Our team held entertaining games, drills and workshops for students and staff at both schools, and also did a test to check the indoor air quality at the school. We would like to thank Manzil Centre, JINS Al Safa and NIA for their support in ensuring the event was a success. We look forward to holding similar awareness programs in other schools in the region,” Mr. Ganesh added.
‘Clean air for children’ is an initiative launched by Blueair in 2016. Since then, Blueair has donated air purifiers and face mask to schools, kindergartens, nurseries and children hospital in the UAE, China, India, Korea, the UK and the US giving clean air to over 20,000 children.
“We are happy to be a part of Blueair’s ‘Clean air for children’ day at Manzil Centre and JINS Al Safa. Children are the future and we must ensure that we nurture them with clean air for a happy and healthy life tomorrow. We look forward to supporting and participating in many more Blueair initiatives to spread awareness of importance of clean air in the development of children,” Mr. Zakir Ahmed, CEO - NIA Limited concluded.
