Press release from: Global Tree

The Australian government introduced a new agreement that aims to encourage immigrants in Australia to settle in regional areas and reduce the load on the already overcrowded cities such as Sydney and Melbourne.
Two new special visa agreements offering a pathway to permanent residency to immigrants who show an interest to move to regional areas was introduced by Mr David Coleman, Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs
One scheme known as Designation Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) s was introduced for the - Warrnambool region in the province of Victoria and the Northern Territory. Both of these region are facing a serious labor shortage. The new agreement will enable employers in the region to hire skilled immigrant workers under the Temporary Skill Shortage visa (Subclass 482) and will also offer the visa holders a pathways to permanent residency.
The agreement relaxes the conditions for visa nomination and allows employers to sponsor workers who do not satisfy the English language requirement and also relaxes the rules for minimum salary. The new rule is expected to greatly benefit the territory, which is in desperate need of both skilled and unskilled workers across a variety of occupations. The DAMA is all the more attractive to immigrants as it is a pathway to permanent residency in Australia. The success of this program can be anticipated from the benefit it can provide to both the immigrant to Australia as well as the region. The region which is struggling with a serious labor gap, can get the services of a skilled professionals as well as benefit from tax contributions, the skilled worker himself can benefit from a better lifestyle and the security of living in a developed country like Australia.
