True stories about working in the toxic waste industry told in a humorous way

About the Book:

Vinson Chard continues with accounts about working for another toxic waste company in 'Special Operations.'

There are stories of a dismembered body, one of his colleagues being arrested as a terrorist in suburbia, exploding eyeballs, a sadistic stripper, a haunted hotel in Hertfordshire and working for Porton Down.

He also works for a small cosmetics company run by an eccentric owner who dresses outlandishly and generates problems with his, 'off the wall,' product requirements.

All these true stories unfold in Vinson's inimitable humorous style.

About the Author:

Vinson Chard is author of three autobiographical books about his humorous time working in the toxic waste industry, the other two being “Life’s Rich Mix” and “Toxic Mayhem”:

Excerpt from the Book:

“During one of the weeks working at Hoechst in Milton Keynes, we were unable to get rooms in our normal hotel, The Pear tree, which meant we had to go further afield to obtain accommodation, eventually ending up in one of the old villages, situated on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, called Stoney Stratford.

There are two Hotels right next to each other one called ‘The Cock, ‘the other called ‘The Bull.’ with a narrow alleyway running between them. Apparently, so the story goes, centuries ago, there were two old washerwomen. One worked in ‘The Cock,’ the other, in ‘The Bull.’ The two old women regularly chatted and gossiped to each other from the upstairs rooms across the narrow alleyway. The women became well-known locally, and gradually the term, ‘Cock and Bull Story’ came into being. To my immense joy, my colleagues and I stayed in the Bull for a couple of evenings.

So, summing up, despite Milton Keynes exuding a rather boring reputation for its lack of atmosphere and excitement to the outside world, I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent working there. Speaking from personal experience, I can dispute the erroneous personality which Milton Keynes portrays to the outside world.

Perhaps it is twinned with Sodom and Gomorrah after all?”
