Freightgate - Leader in Transportation Procurement eLogistics

It has now been a little over one year since Freightgate’s OceanTender was released to the market. In that short time shippers have processed over a quarter million containers with an award value in excess of the ½ billion dollars. Tenders ranging from 4000 to 70000 containers have been processed and submitted up to 25 carriers. The tenders have been anywhere in size from under 1000 to 15,000 location pairs.

Freightgate's transportation procurement application uses a common business process and standardized format developed in conjunction with global shippers, 3PLs and carriers. OceanTender, available in November 2009, standardizes and supports all phases of a tender from initial creation, request, responses, complex shipper evaluation, countering, and award. “At Freightgate we have continued the work of standardizing, simplifying, and improving the tendering process” said Gary Chisamore, the founder of OceanTender.com and Vice President of Business Development. “I want to thank our shipper and carrier colleagues who have greatly assisted in this area.” “Our carrier and shipper colleagues in the supply chain have contributed immensely to the features, functionality and improvement of OceanTender processes. I believe we are on the right track to generate more benefits for our customers from all of the suggestions, improvements and efficiencies we have introduced.” Gary is widely recognized as one of the industry experts in delivering transportation procurement tools.

OceanTender automates what is traditionally been a manual spreadsheet process, that required the labor-intensive analysis of and non-standard responses and communication between shippers and carriers. “I have been thrilled with the market acceptance and adoption of ocean tender and look forward to continued improvements in the process and solution as we get more input from our stakeholders” says Chisamore. Any shipper and carrier is provided free access and use of Ocean Tender. For the more sophisticated shippers, there is access to the Ocean Tender’s scenario and analytics engine to generate more savings and efficiencies.

Martin Hubert, CEO of Freightgate says “we recognize the critical value of transportation procurement and supply chain and were delighted when we were able to incorporate Ocean Tender into our PLTX platform. It has been a natural fit and further enhances the value of Freightgate's rate management (Tariff-Trek) and global tender management (GTM-Trek). We will continue to deliver improvements for these areas.”
