Cannes Palme d'Or Best Actor Winner Shahab Hosseini Joins American Psychological Thriller THE NIGHT from Mammoth Pictures and Executive Producer of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE

Los Angeles, CA (December 20, 2018) - Shahab Hosseini (Academy Award Winning THE SALESMAN [2016], A SEPARATION [2011] and 2016 Cannes Palm D’Or Best Actor) has joined the cast of THE NIGHT, a psychological horror thriller directed by Iranian-American director Kourosh Ahari (GENERATIONS [2018] backed by Tom Hanks). THE NIGHT will be the debut feature from director Kourosh Ahari from a script co-written by Milad Jarmooz and Kourosh.
Alex Bretow (GENERATIONS [2018]) of Mammoth Pictures is producing with Jeffrey Allard (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, [2003], PING PONG SUMMER [2014]) of Indie Entertainment, Cheryl Dillard Staurulakis (DON’T LEAVE HOME, [2018], THE NIGHT WATCHMEN [2017]) of Orama Filmworks and Armin Amiri. Ryan Clarkson and David Spisak of Leveller Media, Chris Johns, Leo Staurulakis of Orama Filmworks and George Rush (SORRY TO BOTHER YOU [2018]) are executive producing. Academy Award Winner Terry George (HOTEL RWANDA [2004]) is Consulting Producer. Mohammad Dormanesh is the Iranian producer on the film.
Production company Mammoth Pictures has combined forces with Shahab Hosseini and Behnam Behbahani’s 7 Skies Entertainment and the above to
produce THE NIGHT. FNP International, Leveller Media and Orama Filmworks are financing the film.
THE NIGHT is a psychological horror thriller about an Iranian couple living in the US that become trapped inside a hotel when insidious events force them to face the secrets that have come between them, in a night that never ends.
THE NIGHT marks Shahab Hosseini’s first performance in an American production. Principal photography in the US began September 2018.
Kourosh Ahari and Shahab Hosseini are not yet represented in the US.
