MONTREAL, Canada and VENRAY, the Netherlands – September 20, 2010 – Octasic Inc., a leading innovator of media processing and wireless solutions, today announced that its Vocallo MGW multi-core DSP platform has been chosen by VSN Systemen, a leading telecom hardware and software developer, to power the media processing unit (MPU) of its newly launched OpenTSP NG portfolio. Octasic’s low power high performance processing technology gives systems integrators and solutions providers a robust platform for today’s most performance-demanding applications.

VSN’s OpenTSP NG portfolio, includes cost-effective hardware, software and professional services for building high-density, high-volume IP multimedia applications. It was designed to address the needs of technical application developers facing the many challenges associated with the increasing complexity of IP networks. Intended for use in carrier-grade telecom and datacom network markets, OpenTSP NG products can handle high levels of traffic, and are stable, flexible and scalable to large systems that can deal with tens of thousands of concurrent calls.

VSN selected Octasic’s Vocallo MGW multi-core processor as part of its OpenTSP NG portfolio to give developers a solution for managing high-capacity media processing of voice and video over IP. Based on Octasic’s unique Opus DSP architecture, Octasic’s Vocallo MGW offers a complete hardware and software solution for media gateways in enterprise and converged fixed-mobile carrier networks. The Vocallo software package includes support for wideband audio codecs such as AMR-WB (G.722.2), G.722, G.722.1, and G.729.1. This flexible solution also provides video transcoding and conferencing solutions across all popular codecs including H.263, MPEG-4, and H.264. Video resolutions supported include QCIF, CIF, SD and HD.

The OpenTSP NG Vocallo MPU is available as a board-level product or as a boxed media applications platform and delivers the lowest power per channel to allow for increased system density and decreased system cost.
