GPS and TMC specialist GNS GmbH has developed a portable high-sensitivity Hybrid-GPS receiver especially for Apple owners. The GNS 5870 MFI uses wireless Bluetooth to connect to the iPad, iPhone or iPod touch and optimizes the potential of GPS-based applications.
Würselen, September 2010: Global Navigation Systems – GNS GmbH is the worldwide first supplier to introduce a mobile GPS-BT receiver for variable Apple systems. The GNS 5870 MFI works with the Apple iPad, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS (as of iPhone OS 3.0.1), iPod touch 2G, iPod touch 3G, and with other Bluetooth-capable handhelds such as smartphones, notebooks and PDAs. The quality seal "Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad" guarantees full compatibility to Apple products.
An integrated high-sensitive 32-channel GPS chip provides fast and precise positioning. The GNS 5870 MFI can deliver reliable GPS data even under difficult reception conditions, such as near high buildings. The receiver automatically works with the Apple or NMEA protocol as requested by the device or application. The receiver is compatible with all current GPS software apps.
Wireless communication via Bluetooth on Apple devices only has to be set up once. After that the GNS 5870 MFI connects to the Apple device all by itself.
The capacity of the rechargeable battery in the GNS 5870 MFI offers over 10 hours of operation to meet the demands of outdoor pursuits, such as for mountain-bike navigation or for storing GPS data while hillwalking. Efficient power management means that the receiver switches itself off when there is no Bluetooth connection.
The GNS 5870 MFI impresses with its modern, quality design and it harmonises with the looks of the iPad, iPhone and the iPod touch. For additional convenience it is operated via touch sensor.
