Renowned for perfection in the demanding, high-tech world of professional and recreational yachting, Gleistein Ropes is also a distinguished partner in the decisively down-to-business field of commercial marine – delivering everything from slender flag halyards to 300mm diameter anchor lines for offshore oil rigs. At this year’s SMM in Hamburg, Germany, taking place 7-10 September, Gleistein presents a whole host of innovations to substantiate this claim. Among the highlights is the brand-new, groundbreaking GeoTwin WinchMaster winch and mooring line featuring incredible dimensional stability and the latest in heavy lifting sling technology for the booming offshore wind park market. This year’s SMM sees the public unveiling of GeoTwin WinchMaster from Gleistein. The state-of-the-art line sets new standards in winch and mooring rope technology. Its tremendous dimensional stability ensures best possible winch spooling characteristics while simultaneously boasting strength and abrasion resistance attributes that are second to none with neutral buoyancy. The new Gleistein line is also lighter than anything comparable currently on the market, making handling significantly easier and safer. And topping it off, this innovative new line will be offered at an extremely attractive price.

Gleistein also has something special in store for the promising offshore wind energy industry. Together with its subsidiary UPDRAFT (jointly owned by Gleistein and PP Energy ApS), Gleistein will present the “UPDRAFT LS” range of ultra-lightweight, high-performance lifting slings for deployment during the installation of wind turbines, boasting breaking loads of up to 700,000 daN.

And for news that just doesn’t get any bigger: following last year’s complete mooring line fit-out of the world’s largest ocean liner of all time, the 360m Oasis of the Seas, Gleistein is about to do it again. This year its sister ship, the equally dimensioned Allure of the Seas, will also moor safely with Gleistein. Just 24 DynaOne® lines – each with a breaking load of 150,000 daN – will keep the grand, soon-to-be-completed vessel secure when docked. Naturally, the full Gleistein range of high-performance lines for heavy-duty commercial marine applications will be on display at SMM.
