Europe's first winter park opens at Hunderfossen, 6th of January
The 6th of January the door to Europe’s first winter theme park opens at Hunderfossen outside Lillehammer. The park offers a variety of winter activities for children and adults alike, and will feature a spectacular and enchanting landscape with ice and snow sculptures.Fairy tales and action packed experiences
Hunderfossen Winter Park is located at the bottom of Gudbrandsdalen, an area known for its heavy snowfalls and wonderful winter landscape. Snow and ice are the main elements in both activities and attractions in the park.
Action minded visitors will love the rush of snow rafting; testing their bravery in the skytrail feeling the adrenalin in the motor cross and snow scooter tracks, the thrill of bobsledding – not to mention the experience of jumping into a river in a survival suit to let the current take you for a wild ride down the river.
In addition visitors can enjoy the spectacular ice cathedral and fairy-tale castle, King Valemons icebar, tobogganing, sleigh rides with horses, daily fireworks and other entertainment.
Winter Park CEO Jarle Nereng, a well known name within Oslo’s fashion and design industry, has designed several of the park’s attractions.
- I am exited about the opening of the Winter Park and believe it will be well received among both families and youths. In addition we can offer tailored events for groups from 20 to 200 people, something corporations may find very interesting for teambuilding or social events. About 60 % of our existing gusts are visiting from other countries, and we have already received reservations from foreign travel parties for the upcoming season. The interest from the Norwegian market has also been substantial, says Nereng.
A romantic winter wedding
Nereng is especially looking forward to the fantastic Ice cathedral, where Hunderfossen will arrange concerts, exhibitions, weddings and christenings.
- If you have a dream of being an ice princess for a day then Hunderfossen is the absolute perfect place to arrange your wedding this winter. I think you have to look long and hard to find a more romantic atmosphere for the big wedding celebration, says Nereng.
