Razer supports the global league of video games champions
Razer becomes the Global Supplier of PC peripherals for Intel Extreme Masters V – professional gaming equipment in the Intel Free Gaming AreaCologne, August 18, 2010 – Razer, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-end precision gaming equipment begins the cooperation with Turtle Entertainment, the company behind the Electronic Sports League. The new partner will support Intel Extreme Masters, the global league of video games champions within the ESL, as a Global Supplier of the PC peripherals. The partnership will start at the Cologne Global Challenge which is the second stop of the fifth season of the international league. The event will be held at the ESL Intel Alienware Gaming Arena (Hall 9) at gamescom 2010 in Cologne, the largest entertainment trade fair in Europe (August 18 – 22). The visitors of the tournament area at the venue will be able to test the latest professional gaming equipment by Razer available in the Intel Free Gaming Area where the public will be able to try out some of the new game titles.
The Cologne Global Challenge is the first European event of the Intel Extreme Masters V, the global league of video games champions. Professional gamers from Europe, Asia and America battle throughout the season for the titles of the World Champion and their share of a total of 400,000 US Dollars in cash prizes – the highest prize purse for a global league. The event in Cologne will host the competition in two disciplines: Quake Live and StarCraft II – played for the first time in a live international tournament. Apart from the prize money, the winners will be awarded the slots in the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship held in Germany in March 2011.
