Tourism destination Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland chooses THIEL Public Relations

The Saxon Switzerland Tourism Association has chosen a PR agency to support its marketing and publicity campaigns for the tourism destination of Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland. Germany-based THIEL Public Relations, a PR agency specializing in tourism, now organizes all media and publicity work for this cross-national destination in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Tino Richter, Managing Director of the tourism association, explained, "Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland is one of Europe's most fascinating travel regions and promoting it is an important cross-border task. Over the past few years, we have closely liaised with our Czech partners and lay the foundations for our joint marketing efforts. By recruiting a professional PR agency, we aim to advance this ambitious project and further strengthen tourism as a key economic factor for countries either side of the border."

In May, THIEL Public Relations was chosen from among five competitors bidding for the Saxon tourism association project. "We were looking for an agency, which not only appreciates the many responsibilities of a modern tourism association, but also understands how to market a destination strategically and to supplement this approach with up-to-date and effective media and public relations work," Richter also commented.

THIEL Public Relations is tasked to develop consistent promotional campaigns for the German market and will coordinate press releases and feature articles. It will also network with editorial offices for travel and tourism in all European German-speaking countries and set up and host press visits. Other main priorities for THIEL Public Relations are to optimize the online PR strategy for this destination and to support the tourism association's own internal communications.

Marketing campaigns for this region are also funded by the European Union's ECT-Objective 3 to promote cross-border cooperation between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic.

The Saxon Switzerland Tourism Association, with headquarters in Pirna/Saxony, has been a registered association since 1991 and mainly represents the interests of tourism in the former district of Saxon Switzerland. The association also coordinates supra-regional and international marketing for Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland. The organization currently has 395 members and cooperates with more than 600 companies, institutions, associations and private individuals.
