RAMPF Giessharze is celebrating a premiere at this year’s Bondexpo. For the very first time, the company is showcasing a one-component polyurethane adhesive at its stand 7501 in Hall 7. Not only is the material highly weather resistant, it also cures at high speeds with the aid of induction. Its bonding at the push of a button. Sister company RAMPF Dosiertechnik is also on hand to present the ideal low-pressure system for material application – complete with integrated induction heating.

It cures at over 85 °C, can be dyed in different colors, offers high strength, odor neutrality, weather and moisture resistance and also extremely good filling and flow properties. All these benefits boil down to a single name: RAKU-PUR 49-2452. RAMPF Giessharze is exhibiting the structural one-component polyurethane adhesive for the first time at the Bondexpo 2010 in Stuttgart. The product is RAMPF’s response to ever decreasing cycle times. “Normally, adhesives require high temperatures for curing. Our material reacts at an induction temperature of as low as 85°C. The stable bond created allows further processing within 30 – 60 seconds, depending on the component”, says Dr. Peter Gräter, Head of Development at RAMPF Giessharze, going on to explain that this offers maximum possible flexibility for the production process. The adhesive only cures once exposed to high temperatures, meaning that RAKU-PUR 49-2452 can be stored for years at room temperature. “Tests have shown that even after over three years, the material can still be processed with induction”, reports Gräter. The new material from the polyurethane, epoxy and silicon specialist is particularly suited for bonding metal window and door frames.

Research into an adhesive with induction particles
Meanwhile the RAMPF Giessharze laboratory is a hive of parallel further development activity. In future it will also be possible to bond non-metal materials, as an adhesive containing induction particles is already in the test phase. The benefit of this would be that the component only requires heating at the connection points, eliminating the need for curing in heating ovens. This would put an end to the problem of component deformation due to excessive ambient temperatures.

Dispensing system with integrated induction generator from HÜTTINGER Elektronik
RAMPF Giessharze relies fully on its sister company RAMPF Dosiertechnik to process the adhesive. The specialist in low pressure technology is exhibiting its compact dispensing cell DC-CNC with integrated induction generator at the Bondexpo 2010. The induction generator has been made available by the company HÜTTINGER Elektronik, and is part of the TruHeat HF series 5000.
The traversing axis, material preparation and dispensing technology merge to form a compact unit in the DC-CNC system. The position of the dispensing pumps close to the mixing unit and the minimal quantity piston dispensing system M-KDS promise good dispensing accuracy and dynamics. The decisive benefit of the mixing system is that the minimal material quantities are intensively processed by the dynamic mixing process. Thanks to volumetric dispensing by the piston dispensing system, users may rely on a consistent dispensing result irrespective of viscosity and of the type of fillers used. The piston dispensers are actuated by hydraulic servo drive units and are capable of covering a wide range of different mixing ratios. And the development specialists at RAMPF Dosiertechnik also gave some thought to easy maintenance. The user only has to pull the material tank out of the machine frame for simple servicing and easier manual filling.
