150 new optical glass awards launched
Swainsboro, Georgia, United States – Martin Awards corporate awards specialist, announced the launch of 150 different new prism optical glass awards on their web site. The use of glass or crystal as corporate recognition awards is standard practice in the corporate gift industry. Using crystal or glass, sends a crystal clear message that the achiever is tops in his or her category and makes for an eye- catching award which could be displayed inside or out of a display case.
In the corporate gift industry, different types of glass or crystal awards are used. The biggest difference is that natural quarts crystal contains 99 percent or more silicone dioxide versus glass, which contains 80 percent or less silicone dioxide.
The awards referred to as crystal, cut crystal, fine crystal or cut glass, are normally made from some form of glass and not pure crystal. This implies that lead was added during the molten stage of the glass award, in order to provide it with superior clarity and light reflection, resulting in a far more affordable product than quarts crystal.
The second distinction between crystal and glass is the structure. Quartz has a symmetrical structure while glass consists of a random structure. Natural quartz therefore is not normally used for corporate gifts as it is considered to be semi-precious gemstones (unless of course your want to use semi-precious stones as an award).
The use of glass containing lead is nowadays replaced with optical glass. Optical glass does not contain lead but maintains the same properties (clarity and light reflection), providing awards with the same effect as leaded glass awards.
All optical glass awards are deep sand etched with the achiever’s name, company logo, date and category or reason why they won the award. The use of deep sand etching ensures that the logo and other information stand out as it forms a contrast with the clarity of the glass.
Many products made from glass are hand made and it is therefore natural that bubbles, flow lines or slight bumps on the rim may occur. These qualities are as a matter of fact used to verify the fact that the product has been hand crafted and should not be seen as a flaw in the product.
“We, at Martin Awards, pride ourselves in supplying the finest quality crystal glass awards – all awards are hand crafted and engraved with precision laser engraving technology in order to ensure that the finest high quality product be delivered to our clients. We have two types of glass crystal awards – one type contains less that 24% lead and the product range we refer to as “full lead crystal” contains 24 to 32% lead.
We also moved to the use of optical glass awards for those clients that prefer this material above leaded glass as we keep up with the latest trends in the promotional industry.
In order to cope with demand, we introduced a rush service for last minute awards. With our rushed service clients could have their deep sand etched glass awards within 5 to 14 working days of receipt of purchase order. We also take our clients through the whole process from choosing the right award for the occasion, which type of glass would be suitable for the award, the deep sand etching process through to delivery.
The whole process is very personalized seeing that orders are subject to availability of glass and the size of the order. We pride ourselves in providing only the best service to customers.” Says Dino Martin, CEO from Martin awards.
