Press release from: umantis AG

The web-based e-recruiting and talent management software umantis becomes integrated part of the SME solution SAP Business ByDesign.

St. Gallen / Walldorf, 13th of July 2010 – Today the umantis AG has announced that Jim Hagemann Snabe, Speaker of the Board of the SAP AG, and umantis CEO Hermann Arnold have signed a contract on the joint development of software. The contract comprises the integration of the umantis software with the SAP solution. In the context of this cooperation SAP benefits for their SAP Business ByDesign, the On-Demand-Business software for medium-sized businesses, from the long-time experiences of the Swiss market leader in web-based applicant and talent management. As a result SAP customers can in future use the integrated software of the company from St. Gallen for their applicant management, for employee review meetings or for the personnel development.

Meanwhile many people are familiar with the use of the Internet for making purchases, for travelling, house hunting or cultivating friendships. In order to support their business and to reach a higher level of flexibility, companies increasingly commit to web-based solutions, too – without investing in the necessary IT infrastructure. The completely integrated On-Demand-Solution SAPBusiness ByDesign makes allowance for these requirements. It covers all business processes of a company via the Internet. The offer primarily aims at medium-sized companies that want to carry out their accounting, payroll accounting, customer acquistion or the project management in a consistent and interconnected way. The offer is supplemented with integrated partner solutions that cover single specialised processes.
«Today already different offers are linked by web service providers. For example, you can find a provider’s weather forecast on the maps of another provider. It’s just the same with our solution which is integrated into SAP Business ByDesign» Hermann Arnold, CEO of umantis, explains.

Pioneer worldwide from St. Gallen
The company ranks among the pioneers wordwide in terms of web-based business applications. «We already developed web-based solutions for companies when terms such as ‹Cloud-Computing›, ‹Software-as-a-Service› or ‹Web 2.0› had not yet been devised», Arnold points up. He set up umantis together with fellow students of the University of St. Gallen and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) ten years ago. This very day the company’s head office is in the centre of St. Gallen where research and development occur. The Board of Administration has been codetermined by former SAP board members for a few years. Hans Schlegel, ETH Zurich graduate from Liechtenstein, was responsible for the successful internationalisation of SAP. For many years Les Hayman from New Zealand was engaged in SAP in leading functions, at last as CEO for Europe and then as global Director of Human Resources. Both members of the Board have already built up several companies in cooperation with SAP and want to do the same with umantis.

Progressive customers
Among the first customers ranked companies such as Axpo, Migros, Raiffeisen, Phonak and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Meanwhile the list of customers is more of a who’s who of the Swiss economy: from Adecco, Bühler, Clariant to Kuoni, Lindt & Sprüngli, Mobiliar, Ringier, Swiss Confederation and Tecan, many famous names are represented. The company is also successful abroad: The German Department for Foreign Affairs, Bayer Schering, Goodyear/Dunlop, Siemens, Sony or Tschibo are just some of more than 300 customers. They all have in common a modern understanding of HR management. They don’t just want to handle the administrative processes in a more efficient way. First of all the cooperation between management and employees is to be systematically supported. Arnold is convinced that sustainable business success is the sum of all individual contributions. And the new web-based information and communication technologies support a new form of cooperation which allows each individual’s contribution in the first place.

Close cooperation between umantis and SAP
The cooperation between the company software provider SAP and the medium-sized company umantis works smoothly. Within short time a first integration step of the umantis solution into the OnDemand-Software SAP Business ByDesign was carried out. First joint customers are to be acquired now. «For medium-sized companies in particular simple and short periods of implementation are crucial. That’s why the web-based eRecruiting and talent management solution of umantis and SAP fit together so well. A common purpose combines both of our solutions: thanks to innovative technology we want to enable a fast added value. The pragmatic and based on partnership cooperation of our teams is a further key to success », Erich Clauer, Head of Solution Partner Management of SAP AG, explains.
