With a new grinding center in Bessenbach in Bavaria,
EPUCRET Mineralgusstechnik is setting its sights on further growth. In the presence of around 80 guests including VIPs from the world of politics and industry, the keys were officially handed over yesterday. The 2,400 sq.m. new building represents an investment of around six million Euro by RAMPF Group member EPUCRET.

“The EPUCRET grinding center in Bessenbach is a completely new departure. The mineral casting specialist is now in a position to supply a seamless service across the entire process chain from technical consultancy through to final precision grinding. We very much welcome this move”, enthused Rudolf Rampf, Chairman of the RAMPF Group Board of Management, in his welcoming address. The specialists from EPUCRET are now able to machine workpieces up to seven meters in length and weighing as much as 25 tons completely in-house – to an impressive level of micron-range precision. Four new employees are currently working in the grinding center, and there are plans to employ more. “In the medium term, we are planning to take on another three to four operators for grinding, assembly and quality inspection”, confirmed EPUCRET CEO Dr. Utz-Volker Jackisch at the opening celebrations. EPUCRET employs an international workforce of 140.

Congratulations from District Administrator and Mayor
In an address to mark the ceremonial handover of the grinding center keys, Aschaffenburg District Administrator Dr. Ulrich Reuter talked of an important investment in the future. “The decision on the site Bessenbach is evidence of a future-oriented management. On the one hand, the company EPUCRET will find strong networks in our region, especially for the automation industry, on the other hand, we offer as the Bavarian part of the metropolitan region Rhine-Main excellent connections in Germany and in the world,” he stated. The Mayor of Bessenbach, Franz Straub, also expressed his very best wishes to the company on this landmark occasion. “We are extremely gratified about the clear endorsement this sends out about the viability of Bessenbach as a location for industry. We look forward to playing our part to ensure that EPUCRET feels at home here and has the freedom to develop”, he emphasized.

First machine beds already under way
The new building, located conveniently next to the A3 Autobahn and equipped with the very best that modern mechanical engineering has to offer, features fully air conditioned production, assembly and measurement rooms. It will not only be machine frames manufactured from mineral casting internally in the company that are given their final parting grind and polish in Bessenbach: Materials such as hard stone, ceramics, steel and cast iron will also be machined under contract by the specialists from EPUCRET. Initial projects are already in hand. “We are particularly proud to report that we are already in the process of grinding the first beds for travelling column milling machines on behalf of one of our biggest customers, Deckel Maho Seebach GmbH. We see this as confirmation that there is an urgent need for our service and that this investment has come at just the right time”, explained Utz-Volker Jackisch at the celebrations.

Functional and sustainable building design
A tour of the new facilities impressed the 80 guests not only with the extreme functionality of the building but also its sustainable design. The roof is fitted with a photovoltaic installation covering an area of 2,160 square meters. The energy yield fed into the public grid on an annual basis will be around 90,000 kilowatt hours. This corresponds to an annual CO2 saving of 77 tons. Geothermic technology also takes care of air conditioning in the building. “Respect for the environment is something we take very seriously, which is why the use of renewable energy sources has played a key role from the start”, explained Rudolf Rampf during the tour. The EPUCRET facility was planned and project managed by Goldbeck Süd GmbH.
