Core Engineering Opens Its Own Galaxy

Online game “Outer Galaxies” launched 6 July 2010

Lüneburg, 6 July 2010: Space is waiting to be conquered: Following a three-month open beta phase, Core Engineering GmbH today launches the new multiplayer browser game “Outer Galaxies” (www.outer-galaxies.com). The sci-fi role-playing game bristles with lavish technical features and action-packed, real-time gameplay. As with their first and very successful title, “Dogs of the Seas”, the Lüneburg-based designers/publishers relied on collaboration with users in developing their new game.

“‘Outer Galaxies’ was developed using our proprietary engine, CoreGame Server,” as Malte Sommer, CTO/Lead Developer at Core Engineering GmbH, states. “Add to that a fruitful and lively exchange with users, whose number has already grown steadily in the open beta phase.” At the time of its official launch today, 6 July 2010, “Outer Galaxies” presents a universe with 200 solar systems and 4,500 sectors spread out over five galaxies. Users can choose among 26 different spacecraft designs whose characteristics and features can be modified and expanded by installing various virtual devices, components, weapons and ammunition types.

Using the moderated in-game chat, virtual space travellers can communicate with each other and strategize together, and also contact the developers at Core Engineering. The option to compile a so-called “buddy list” is provided as well. “When several players team up to form an alliance, they can capture and occupy entire territories of the universe,” Sommer explains. “I am absolutely certain that the new game, again played in real time, will seamlessly follow in the successful path of our first title, and will set a new standard for real-time browser games made in Germany.“
