Press release from: HaCon Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH

Hanover (2010-07-06). Two Hanoverian companies now combine their expertise in questions of railway operations: With effect from 1 July 2010, the HaCon Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, took over the engineering firm for railway operating systems (Ingenieurbüro für Bahnbetriebssysteme GmbH – IBS). This way HaCon expanded its services to include the areas operation simulation, vehicle and personnel planning and construction operations planning.

This also includes consulting services concerning railway systems issues, such as travel time calculations, timetable concepts, performance analysis and supporting railway operators on their traffic tender procedures.

For now, IBS will continue independently. All previous contacts and communication channels remain unchanged at first. Medium term it is envisaged that the activities of IBS will be merged with the HaCon business segment timetable construction and -management.

The main product within this business segment, the Train Planning System TPS combines infrastructure, timetable and network capacity management as well as all interaction. It supports railway infrastructure managers in planning their capacities according to EU regulations. The interdisciplinary team around TPS comprises 30 members, including traffic engineers, mathematicians and computers scientists. HaCon expects strong synergies for the further development by the cooperation of both teams for the development of products and services. The IBS-team consists of nine people who bring in extensive experience.

Both IBS and HaCon have their roots in the renowned Institute of Transport, Railway Construction and Operation (IVE) of the University of Hanover, where the founders and managing directors of both IBS and HaCon had studied and researched before they went into business for themselves.

"We are looking forward to a constructive and trusting collaboration with our new customers and partners," says HaCon-managing director Dr. Werner Kretschmer. "All existing projects and contracts we will continue in the usual quality."
