Better supply of hearing aids: Germany and Israel sign an agreement

Leading organisations for hearing-aid acousticians from Germany and Israel begin working together by signing a partnership agreement on 16th June in Tel Aviv

Mainz/Tel Aviv, 16th June 2010. Hearing problems are an increasing problem in industrial nations. An increasing number of working people are also affected by this problem. 50 million people in Europe and approximately 215 million across the world are suffering from a hearing impairment. The decisive factor in the high-quality provision of hearing-aids is the work of the hearing-aid acoustician. Germany and Israel want to improve the supply of hearing-aids throughout the world by also intensifying the training of hearing-aid acousticians. The cooperation will begin with a partnership agreement between the Federal Guild of Hearing-Aid Acousticians (biha) and the Israeli Hearing Rehabilitators Association (IRHA). On 16th June, the Presidents, Marianne Frickel (biha) and Liora Biran (IRHA) signed the agreement in Tel Aviv.
According to the agreement, the leading German and Israeli organisations will support each other in the field of training too. "We will thus achieve a better level of mutual understanding and the sense of a genuine international partnership", claims Marianne Frickel, President of the Federal Guild of Hearing-Aid Acousticians.
Liora Biran, President of the Israeli Association (IRHA) is proud of the partnership: "We want to strengthen the profession of the hearing-aid acoustician on an international level to help all people with hearing difficulties".
This year, the first joint training camp of German and Israeli hearing-aid acousticians is being organised. The location is the largest training academy for hearing-aid acousticians in the world in Lübeck, Germany.

The Federal Guild of Hearing-Aid Acousticians (biha) represents the interests of its member organisations and thus is one of the largest umbrella organisations in the field of hearing-aid acousticians in the world. The approximately 4,000 German hearing-aid acousticians companies with approximately 10,000 employees currently offer more than 2,000 young people the opportunity to acquire training in the sector. With this training quota, the hearing-aid acousticians are the top group in German industry.
