Webcuts 04+05: The Only Internet Film Festival Globally Takes Place on October 6th, 2005 in Berlin
Berlin, 15th September, 2005. Webcuts 04+05 presents the best internet films from around the world on location for all Berliners at the CineStar Cinema Potsdamer Platz / Sony Centre and for everybody everywhere via live stream on the web.Webcuts – Shining pixel on your computer, flickering bytes in the cinema and a sparkle in your eyes all inclusive! The Berlin multi-media association interface!berlin, media.net berlinbrandenburg, a network of companies of the communications and media sector in Berlin & Brandenburg and the internet agency area42 are jointly presenting Webcuts 04+05 in Berlin. The organisers want to save the visually creative internet films from getting lost in the depths of the internet and are therefore pulling them to the surface and presenting them at this unique festival.
‘ Also this year, we have received submissions from all corners of the world that are exciting, artistic, funny, experimental and always of an amazing technical standard.’ Says Eckhard Jäger, founder of Webcuts and Creative Director of the agency area42. ‘Webcuts is the stage, where internet films from around the world are brought together and presented to a wide audience. What looks great on the computer screen, often looks even better on the big screen! What were the trends of the last year, which direction did the medium, their makers and the films themselves take? Which topics and themes did emerge? Webcuts 04+05 will provide answers to these questions.’
Webcuts 04+05 – Premium prizes for the best submissions: The winners of Webcuts 04+05 can look forward to receive high-performance professional software packages for a value of approx. €15,000.00. Amongst others, Mental Images, the recognised international leader of rendering and 3D modeling software based in Berlin, donates 10 licences for its main product:
Mental Ray. This high-end software, which has received the US academy award, is used around the world to create special effects or digital movies of photorealistic quality. Alias has provided another interesting tool that is held in high esteem by film and video artists, game developers, visualisation experts and web designers: Maya is a top class, integrated software solution for 3D modeling, animation, effects and rendering.
Webcuts 04+05 – via live stream on the web: The best short movies, that were made or published on the web are being presented in Berlin for the fourth time.
