Assessing current patterns in healthcare costs for clinical pharmacies

Bellevue, WA – Pharmacy OneSource, software-as-a-service provider of Sentri7, a web-based patient surveillance system, is pleased to announce a complimentary webinar on pharmaceutical costs by Fred Doloresco, PharmD, MS, in "Trends in Drug Expenditures: 2010 Update."

Healthcare costs, and particularly pharmacy costs, continue to increase each year. Many factors are expected to impact national pharmaceutical expenditures in the United States in 2010. These factors affect the hospital, community, and clinic settings to different extents. Key influences including drug development, comparative effectiveness research, and the economic climate all play important roles.

Doloresco will focus on the effects that these influences have had on pharmaceutical expenditures in the recent past and how they may affect present and future expenditures. Trends in total healthcare expenditures will also be discussed, as will comparisons of several forecasts of national pharmaceuticals.

About the Presenter: Fred Doloresco, PharmD, MS received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University in 2005 and a Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin in 2008. While completing his Masters, Doloresco also completed a 3-year joint program comprised of pharmacy administration-focused inpatient residency and fellowship in pharmaceutical outcomes research at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC). He joined the University at Buffalo faculty in 2008. He currently provides education for the UB School of Pharmacy in managed care pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, and outcomes research. He coordinates education related to pharmaceutical care and drug interactions. He provides clinical services at the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) and provides drug utilization review and healthcare claims analysis services for the New York State Department of Health. His research focuses on translational and comparative effectiveness research as well as economic topics including the impacts of clinical pharmacy services and drug expenditure trends.
