All runners who register for competitive timing in a Grand-Prix race earn points. There are no additional fees or sign-up necessary to be part of the Grand-Prix competition. To be in contention for fall Grand-Prix awards, runners must complete at least six races in the fall series. Points are earned for every race participated in, regardless of finishing time. Only the six highest scores out of the possible eight are counted toward awards standings. Registration for each race is handled individually and can be made through Sport Often (www.sportoften.com), at advanced registration locations provided by each race or on race day. Most races offer discounts and other incentives for early registration.

About Second Empire Grand-Prix:
Born from the Second Empire 5K Classic, the Grand-Prix is the inspiration of Raleigh Entrepreneurs Kim Reynolds and husband Rod Garnas along with Inside-Out Sports owner Cid Cardoso. In its eighth year, the Grand-Prix provides a fun way for competitive and non-competitive runners to give back to the community. Individual races pool a small portion of their operational funds along with Grand-Prix sponsors to cover series expenses. The combined effort has provided races with increased visibility and attendance while decreasing operational costs. This savings can directly translate to larger proceeds going to the benefiting charities. 2010 fall sponsors include: Second Empire Restaurant and Tavern, Inside-Out Sports, Articulon, Brooks-The official running shoe of the Second Empire Grand-Prix, Midtown Magazine, MYLAPS sports timing, Henry Wurst, Inc. Michael Law MD—Blue Water Spa and Endurance Magazine. For more information, visit www.secondempireseries.com.
