NewsCollective Appoints Ninna Engberg as New Chairperson

One of the well known faces in the world of business with a strong media background, Ninna Engberg has been appointed Chairperson of the Board for NewsCollective, a website which provides an innovative approach to sourcing content online.

NewsCollective, a company focused on empowering journalists and publishers worldwide to source content online, has announced the appointment of their new Chairperson Ninna Engberg. Ninna will lead and assist NewsCollective, enabling the fulfillment of its future goals and aspirations.
Ninna Engberg is President of the Stockholm Globe Arena. An executive of international repute, Ninna had worked with some of the biggest names in Sweden. Ninna Engberg has a strong background in the media industry, handling senior positions with television, newspaper, and commercial radio, working with companies like TV4, SVT, RTL Radio, Daily News and MTG Radio. She was also instrumental in ensuring that Stockholm is the venue for the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2012 as well as 2013.
Reacting to her appointment, Ninna said “It is an honor to accept this new role and to work with such an exceptional team. I believe that NewsCollective's future prospects are very bright thanks to the unique business concept and impressive website developed for journalists and publishers from across the world to come together and transact using Internet as the medium, and not to mention the growing market demand for a platform like this. I look forward to contributing to NewsCollective's future goals, drawing on my media experience and my passion to help start-up organizations become international leaders."

“We at NewsCollective are very pleased that we have an outstanding executive like Ninna joining us as the Chairperson of the Board. Ninna has forged a successful career in the media industry and she brings a wealth of business and strategic acumen to help NewsCollective achieve its vision and take advantage of new opportunities in the rapidly changing media industry.” stated Jan Villars, CEO of NewsCollective.

NewsCollective has a very strong Board of Directors with Hasse Breitholtz, the CEO of Sony music and erstwhile Executive Vice President at MTG; Jonas Von Hedenberg who is the Executive Vice President at Bonnier and Kaushik Thakkar, a seasoned entrepreneur and Vice Chairman of NewsCollective.

"This Board is truly representative of the way we are shaping and positioning NewsCollective for continued success and growth. All the directors of the Board have held executive leadership positions in various professional areas and bring valuable knowledge from a variety of successful businesses and every one of us is very excited about Ninna’s appointment. The next few years have the potential to be an exciting era for our company, making it an ideal time to further enhance the depth and strength of our leadership.” added Jan Villars.
Ninna Engberg is also a Board Member of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and previously was also on the Board of the Swedish Bandy Association where she participated for four years.
NewsCollective’s purpose is to create an online news bureau where journalists can market their articles, stories, features, photographs and videos at a fixed price or through a bidding process. These transparent modules help media organizations to tackle the daunting task of managing global information and news at one place, which makes outsourcing easy. Professional journalists on the other hand can decide the price they would like to set for the unique content they have created and negotiate the same directly with the publishers, faster and safer.

This website is under invitation only beta launch currently and slated to be launched officially in September 2010.

NewsCollective is an innovative, privately funded, international start-up company with offices in San Francisco, Stockholm and Mumbai.
NewsCollective leverages the Internet to disrupt the traditional news agency model, changing the way content is created, shared and traded in the media world. Journalists now have the opportunity to reach out to a wider network of publishers worldwide, who might be interested in the content they can create in the form of articles, photos and videos.
It is our vision to be the premier destination for content sourcing for publishers and journalists worldwide using the Internet as a medium (the news equivalent of YouTube and Facebook).
