Documents at the push of a button: ArchivistaBox 2006/XI

Zurich, 9 November 2006 - The first digital filing cabinet is ready for free download now. ArchivistaBox 2006/X1 can be deployed as a virtual appliance on any platform (Linux/Windows), in addition, it can be run as embedded box or as cluster solution with multi core functionality.

ArchivistaBox comes with a webbased user interface and is set up with a few mouse clicks whether a single workstation is concerned or a storage cluster. No further software is needed. Document scanners, multi function copiers and internal services can be connected any time. The integrated print server (CUPS), for example, converts spool files automatically into an archive friendly format and sends them to the database where they remain in absolutely audit proof storage.

Beside the tried and tested concept of a fully integrated DMS solution based on OpenSource technology, ArchivistaBox offers also a 'ready-to-switch-on' OCR engine that puts all documents as searchable PDF files at the user's disposal. The OCR technology utilized is based on FineReader technology today, however, from release 2006/XI onwards the API is available for development. Further technical improvements of ArchivistaBox 2006/XI are:

a) faster black and white optimization for invoices of poor print quality
b) splitting of documents during capturing (without barcodes)
c) automated copying of fully functioning archives to DVD/CDRW
d) remote access for easy maintenance
e) multi core processor support (up to 4 GB RAM)
f) automated creation of archives on USB sticks

ArchivistaBox is distributed as live CD in order that it may be tested at leisure before it is installed on hard disk.
