LightManufacturing announces Off-Grid Feature for H1 Heliostat

09-24-2018 11:40 AM CET | Energy & Environment

Press release from: LightManufacturing, Inc.

West Coast solar technology firm, LightManufacturing, announces an additional feature called “standalone mode” to their H1 Heliostat. Standalone mode enables a heliostat to create its own wireless network which users can connect to with any internet capable device. This feature ensures that users can operate heliostats even if they are out of range of an existing wireless network. The primary goal of the standalone feature is to enable customers without internet access full control of their heliostat.
Heliostats are computer-controlled mirrors which reflect the sun onto a defined target as it moves across the sky. LightManufacturing’s H1 heliostats can be configured and targeted using interface systems on smartphones or web browsers- no special software is required. Once targeted, the on-board computer tracks the sun and keeps the reflection on-target. Heliostats can be used for sustainable manufacturing and in residential lighting and heating applications. The LightManufacturing H1 heliostat offers the lowest cost per reflected watt available on the market. Each H1 heliostat delivers over 1300 watts of heat, or over 150,000 lumens of light to desired targets.
“Stand-alone mode provides a simple way to use the H1 heliostat without needing an external WiFi network - ideal for our customers in remote areas,” said founder Karl von Kries.
Depending on a heliostats location, users might prefer their H1 heliostat to connect to an existing network. Each LightManufacturing heliostat comes equipped with both the internet enabled and standalone modes, and operators can easily maneuver between modes by activating a user-friendly, toggle switch on the heliostat.
LightManufacturing researches and commercializes heliostats and solar thermal manufacturing systems to make sustainable energy a practical reality. The firm supplies H1 heliostats to fortune 100 companies, national governments, and to clients in the United States and throughout the world. The company also supplies heliostats to individuals for use in residential settings. A recent update was the solar vacuum option, which allows the user to concentrate their heliostat target as specifically or broadly to their desires.
LightManufacturing also creates turn-key Solar Rotational Molding (SRM) systems that utilize the sun’s radiant energy from heliostats to directly melt plastic inside a mold, producing commercial-grade plastic pieces such as water tanks, coolers, boats, and toys. These factories can operate off-grid, anywhere in the world, making high-tech solar solutions accessible to a new market of customers.
