PREMO and NAGARES awarded participation in the SAE 2010 Congress

In the frame of the alliance between PREMO and NAGARES, both companies will attend together to the SAE World Congress in Detroit, Michigan.

One single word defines this congress: “Innovation in Automotive”. Companies and experts participate during 3 days in technical sessions, conferences and exhibitor booths where the most innovative automotive technologies are present. An impressive display of products and services, limited to companies who accepted the “Innovators Only” challenge and have proven to be top industry innovators and solution providers.

SAE 2010 Congress is hosted by Ford Motor Company and counts with Magna as Strategic partner among other premium sponsors and exhibitors.

PREMO and NAGARES will present the last development made together, an on-board power line EMC filter for automotive battery chargers in electric and hybrid vehicles. This module connect the new green cars with the power network, protecting the user, sensing the net and making the charger fully complain with the EMC standards. Both companies will be the only European independent companies presenting innovations for new Electric Vehicles.

Power line EMC filters for electric and plug-in cars are key components in order ensure that the charger is not delivering electrical noise into the electrical grid during the charging process as well as controlling current leakage. The module has integrated electronics in order to have an active compensation of the capacitive leakages currents, has several protection functions and communication interfaces availability.

Today, there are not automotive expert companies able and used to develop such a complex filter with the electronic (HW-SW) automotive requirement, as described above. By the strategic cooperation agreement between Nagares (power electronic devices supplier within automotive industry since 1971) and Premo (Inductive and EMC components expert for electronic market since 1962), we are able to provide a one-supplier-solution integrating both functions (HW-SW and filtering).

Nagares is a power electronic supplier within automotive industry since 1971. Nagares today produces lots of electronic components related with Diesel engine management, supplying directly to companies like Renault, PSA, Ford, Nissan, Volvo, etc…

For Nagares, the electric car market is a new opportunity to increase its business, as it requires more power electronics than current cars; in the other hand, this new market it’s a must for Nagares as the electric and plug-in hybrid cars are called to take over the current Diesel volumes, so for Nagares it’s the only way to ensure its current business volume.

Premo is a EMC and inductive supplier for electronic market since 1962. By introducing itself in the electric and plug-in hybrid, Premo gets to have a larger and more important presence into the automotive market, which is one of the key markets for Premo.

With this product and technology, Premo becomes a player with a much more important role within automotive market, as no current automotive supplier has any experience designing, developing and manufacturing such filters as Premo is used to do.
