The response to a common and successful future, enjoy the four-member team.

As of March 1st 2010 ROTEC GmbH & Co. KG will have taken over the production plant for expanded silicate granulate and dry fills in Neuwied from the quick-mix company Kruft GmbH & Co. KG..

With the acquisition of the plant, ROTEC GmbH & Co. KG is responding to the growing demand in the dry mortar industries and in construction chemicals for natural light-weight aggregates, as well as the general trend of aggregates, substrates, and fills of natural origin.

In the Neuwied production plant expanded silicate is dried and processed. The product portfolio includes silicate stone granulate and dry fills. In the future, silicate stone granulates will be distributed by ROTEC. The distribution of the dry fills through the builders merchant will continue nationwide with quick-mix.

In 1990, the ROTEC Company, Raw Resource Technology GmbH was founded and thus became the legal successor of the Klöckner GmbH in Duisburg. The origins of this special material treatment got their start in the sixties. The professional development, application research and marketing did not take place till the founding of RO-TEC. Since then ROTEC is known in the building material world as the specialist for the refinement of natural silicate. The company promotes and refines this ecologically amazing material with modern technology to the innovative lightweight aggregate ROTOCELL and the ecologically valuable substrate ROTOPOR. Thus, coveted aggregates are derived from the natural raw material for highly thermo-insulating bricks, substrates for green roofs and aggregates for the dry mortar industry and for the manufacturers of construction chemical products. Perpet-ual researching is continually opening up new application areas, such as specialty grains for filters.
ROTEC GmbH & Co. KG is owned in equal parts by the following well-known and established companies: KANN Baustoffwerke and Dr. Carl Riffer Baustoffwerke GmbH & Co. KG.

KANN Baustoffwerke
1927, the KANN Company GmbH & Co. KG Bendorf / Rhine has been founded under the name Schwemmsteinfabrik (Rhenish brick factory) Frankfurt a. M. GmbH by Paul Geldmacher and Otto Pleines. At that time the product range initially comprised only a narrow range of silicate building materials.
Today KANN Baustoffwerke is one of the largest suppliers of concrete products in Germany. With its cobblestones and outer plates, palisades, and curbs, and garden walls, steps and hang fixtures the products of KANN Baustoffwerke is a presence in more and more gardens. For the commercial and public areas, concrete pipes, precast duct parts, concrete retaining walls, L-blocs, paving stone systems and rainwater collection systems are manufactured. In April 1985, the KANN Baustoffwerke GmbH and the Dr. Carl Riffer GmbH & Co. KG founded the Bisotherm building material distribution company.

Riffer Baustoffwerke
The Dr. Carl Riffer GmbH & Co. KG Company’s history dates back as far as 1858. On October 1st 1918 Charles Riffer acquired along with his neighbor from Koblenz, the businessman Paul Holtschneider, the 60 year old Rhenish brick factory Carl Mueller in Urmitz-Bahnhof. Objectives of that company were: To improve the quality of silicate building materials, to automate the production, and to replace the seasonal work through continuous operation.
As one of the first producers Charles Riffer used cement as a binder. The then new binder allowed for the development and production of stones with higher compressive strength. This far-sighted decision was the pioneer in the develop-ment and commercialization of the heatinsulating Bisotherm stone.

Since September 1st 2009 acquisition work and the future business development of ROTEC GmbH & Co. KG is managed by Dipl.-Ing. Guido Runkel.
Mr. Runkel is very well known in the building and construction industry, as he achieved tremendous success working for more than 9 years in the Dennert Poraver GmbH as product manager and managing director before joining the ROTEC GmbH & Co. KG.
