Weaverville Tailgate Market Provides App to Help Shoppers and Farmers Connect on Local Food

To help its customers shop for what’s local, fresh and in season, the Weaverville Tailgate Market is offering the FarmFreshWeb Consumers app for Apple and Android phones. With the app, farmers and other vendors can send messages to shoppers including special deals, new product announcements, and other news about what’s going on at their farms and businesses.

The Weaverville Tailgate Market has almost 30 vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats and seafood, prepared foods and more to folks in and around Weaverville. Now, the FarmFreshWeb Consumer app make shopping for local food at the Weaverville Tailgate Market more convenient and more fun.

The app shows messages from each of the vendors at the market and helps shoppers know what’s available and which vendors are going to be at the market. Some vendors also offer advance ordering using the app. The app provides reminders to go to market and there are even recipes using seasonal crops. FarmFreshWeb.Com plans to add more features, including a shopping list function, online coupons and more.

“We’re really excited about offering the app to our shoppers,” said Brenda Dillingham, market board member. “We’ve got a great market here on Wednesdays, with the freshest local food, so we want to help more people know in advance what’s available and when. And the service is easy for our farmers to use.”
