WoodWing Introduces Smart Connection Enterprise 4.2

10-10-2006 05:18 PM CET | Media & Telecommunications

Press release from: WoodWing Software

ZAANDAM, THE NETHERLANDS (October 9, 2006) — WoodWing Software™ has introduced the latest version of its industry-leading Smart Connection Enterprise™ editorial solution — a powerful and flexible upgrade that includes a host of new features. The new version will have its debut at IfraExpo 2006 in Amsterdam.

WoodWing officials say that version 4.2 of Smart Connection Enterprise has a lot to offer large publishers, with features such as editioning and advanced deadline management.

Editioning will ease the creation and management of multi-edition publications. This flexible feature allows the user to mix and match single-edition pages, multi-edition pages and on-page edition variations.

The advanced deadline-management feature of version 4.2 allows deadlines to be set individually for each issue, section, status and even individual files if needed. The system automatically takes holidays and non-working days in account.

“Large publishers aren’t the only ones who will benefit from version 4.2,” said Jeroen Sonnemans, Managing Director of WoodWing Europe™. “The new Sticky Notes feature is something that every user will appreciate, to get a more efficient collaboration. While the designer is working on a page, editors or management can simultaneously attach sticky notes to pages from within InCopy, and also from a Web browser.”

Enterprise was already the industry leader in ease of installation, but version 4.2 improves this further. Among the other features:

• LDAP (Active/Open Directory) integration ensures single-user definitions and group assignments through the organization’s global directory.

• The new Access Profiles feature offers easier setup of access rights, while at the same time increasing the flexibility by an enhanced granularity.

• Individual application features, such as applying text formatting and viewing thumbnail overviews, can also be access controlled.

• Hierarchical Views/Queries - the query capabilities have been enhanced to allow hierarchical queries showing elements placed or planned for a page, as well as the individual text components of an article.

• The 3D search technology has been further optimized for more flexible searching and the instant update functionality has been expanded. Query performance has been improved as well.

• Other exciting features include full audit trailing, configurable password rules and expiration, numerous usability improvements and more.

IfraExpo 2006, October 9-12, will be the first public showing of the 4.2 release, and WoodWing officials are inviting people to stop by their booth to experience all that it has to offer. Visitors to the booth can speak with representatives from WoodWing or the many partners who will be there, and get live demos of the great new functionality.

Enterprise version.4.2 is expected to ship in November.
