The Rostec International Fireworks Festival to be held in Moscow
This weekend, on August 18 and 19, the world's best pyrotechnic teams will color the sky above the Russian capital with millions of lights: the Rostec International Fireworks Festival will be held in Moscow. This year, the leading pyrotechnicians from Austria, Andorra, Bulgaria, the UK, Greece, Italy, Slovakia and the USA will surprise the spectators and compete for being the best one.The event is held with the support of the Government of Moscow for the fourth year.
As part of the festival, for the first time in Russia, the spectators will see a multimedia show of 120 dynamic fountains "dancing" to the rhythm of classical and contemporary music, a light show, projections on water screens combined with the art of laser design and use of state-of-the-art technology. The installation will be 500 meters long. The fountains will be up to 40 meters high. Michelle Anton who is one of the best show designers in Austria is the producer of the show.
"Due to a high level of training, qualification of teams and the scale of the show, our festival can be ranked among the most famous fireworks festivals in the world," said CEO of Rostec Sergey Chemezov. "In contrast to official fireworks which are strictly regulated, the Fireworks Festival is the show of a special format, where the pyrotechnicians can demonstrate all their creativity. This is why the spectators are interested in it. For example, last year over 700 thousand people visited the show, that’s more than at the Festival of Pyrotechnic Art of Cannes, which is considered to be one of the largest festivals of this kind", he added.
The Volunteer’s Year and charitable work
In the Volunteer’s Year the festival is dedicated to goodness and magic. These themes will be developed at various levels: from the daytime to fireworks shows.
"Rostec which comprises most Russian fireworks companies considers the fireworks festival to be not only a platform for showcasing the technological capability of the Russian fireworks industry, but also a chance of organizing a real celebration for residents and guests of the capital", says Yulia Voronova, assistant to the Rostec general director for social projects and chairman of the board of directors of "Pyrotechnical technologies", LLC, which is the organizer of the festival. "We pay great attention to the social aspect of the event. This year the partners of the festival include charitable foundations such as Konstantin Khabenskiy's Charity Foundation and the VERA Hospice Charity Fund. To support the funds, there will be volunteering activities and charitable work on the site."
The fireworks show
The competitive programme of the fireworks show starts at 9:00 p.m. On each of the two days the spectators will see four performances: on August 18, programs will be presented by Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, and the USA, and on August 19, Andorra, the UK, Greece, and Slovakia will hold their shows. A world-class jury will monitor the technical aspect of the performances. The jury includes eminent pyrotechnicians from Canada, Spain, the USA, Romania, and Portugal. Amateur jury, a composer and producer Igor Krutoy and film director Pavel Chukhray, will assess the visual appeal of the show. The spectators will also be able to vote for the best performance together with them. A winner of the People's Choice Award will be selected via SMS voting.
The teams will present programs consisting of two parts: fireworks in the colors of a national flag with national music will be a participant's presentation; there will also be a free program on the theme of goodness and magic. The performances will be accompanied by the laser and water and light show specially prepared for the festival.
The program of the festival is available on the website: pyrofest.ru.
