Thompson & Knight congratulates Alexandre R. Chequer and Hassan Yassine who are included in the 2007 Chambers Global “Leaders in their Field” legal directory. Alexandre R. Chequer is included in the General Business Law and Overseas Specialists sections. Mr. Chequer is resident in the Rio de Janeiro and Houston offices of the Firm, and his practice focuses on project development, representing clients in energy project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and business transactions, as well as in arbitration. His expertise includes infrastructure projects in upstream, midstream, and downstream energy, negotiation for the structuring of projects and with host countries, exploration and production, pipeline projects, and LNG, as well as hydro, gas power plant, refinery, EPC agreements for the construction and operation and maintenance of hydro, and petrochemical projects, political and regulatory risk analysis, and investments in Latin America and Africa. Mr. Chequer has served as a Board Member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) since 2002.

Hassan Yassine is included in the Corporate/Commercial and Foreign Law sections. Mr. Yassine is resident in the Algiers, Algeria office of the Firm and supports clients wishing to do business in Africa and the Middle East as well as clients from those regions wishing to do business with U.S. companies. He represents public and private companies and host governments in their strategic design, commercial execution, negotiations, contract preparation, and legal interpretation. Mr. Yassine is involved in oil and gas investment, project financing for major banks and companies, infrastructure projects, desalinization projects, unitization, and LNG projects.
