Some Costumes Aren't Just For Halloween Anymore

New website offers the "Instant Costume"(TM), a T-shirt that doubles as a creative costume. And vice versa.

MICHIGAN, September 12, 2006 -- You know the routine. The last week of October rolls around and you panic. You pick through the last dregs in the costume section of your favorite big box store, slap the polyester getups on yourself and/or family, trick-or-treat for an hour, then mothball everything until next October.

"We thought: 'There's got to be a better way,'" says the creator of InstantCostume.com. "Instead of offering some ultra-flimsy costume that consumers will probably never use again, we thought, why not add the flexibility of a t-shirt that can be worn year 'round? It's comfortable. 100% cotton. And, with no mask to hinder peripheral vision, they're safer than many costumes, too."

InstantCostume.com offers over 20 t-shirt designs that do (as best t-shirts can) double as some ingenious costumes. Take, for example, the "Bowl of Cereal" costume: three oversized cereal "O"s floating randomly on the milky surface of a white t-shirt. Or, the costume entitled simply, "Road": a large white diagonal stripe on the asphalt-like expanse of a black t-shirt.

The site is not limited to Halloween costumes. Other Halloween t-shirt designs are also offered, and site officials say they plan to keep adding designs, right through October.

"I'll be the first to admit it," says a designer of the new site. "I hate traditional Halloween costumes. The sweaty masks. The polyester. Our Instant Halloween Costumes (TM) are so much more creative and comfortable."

He notes that their costumes and t-shirts may not be for everyone. "I think you'll know immediately. It all depends on your sense of humor. Our products are designed for creative people who want to express their creativity through a totally unorthodox Halloween costume."

The website, instantcostume.com, offers t-shirts starting at around $15 for their 100% cotton "Value Shirt." Most of the shirt/costumes retail for around $20. With many traditional costumes selling for over $30 and beyond, the prices at instantcostume.com are hardly scary for most anyone's pocketbook.
