Fabulous Gift Wrapping Ideas To Help You Save Money And Time
Wrapping gifts can be a love/hate relationship. On one hand, wrapping up a wonderful gift can be a lot of fun. On the other hand, the time and expense involved with gift wrapping can be a headache. Here a few fantastic, yet frugal wrapping ideas to help you save money and time. One of the best places to buy wrapping supplies is at your local dollar store. They have a huge selection of rolls and sheets, gift bags and boxes. The dollar store is also a great place to pick up your staple items such as tape, scissors, cards and tissue paper. Because their inventory changes quickly, it's important to plan ahead for special occasions. You might even consider picking up a few wrapping essentials each time you go to have on hand whenever the need arises.
Or consider wrapping your gifts in non-traditional paper like magazine covers, comic strips from the Sunday paper, calendars, wallpaper and fabrics. A cook for instance would love a present wrapped up in cookbook pages or recipes cut from a magazine or newspaper. Or an architect will relish over a gift wrapped up with an old blueprint or two. Someone who likes to travel will get a rise out of his or her gift concealed in maps. Use a little creativity and remember to match the wrapping ideas to the style and taste of the person the gift is going to.
Another option is to wrap your gifts in neutral colors like white, black or brown and then add some finishing touches. Bows and ties always look nice. Glitter spray also adds a pleasant touch. For an extra special effect, tie on little trinkets like costume jewelry, candy, ornaments and small toys.
One of the newest wrapping ideas to enter the marketplace is the notion of fabric gift bags. These lovely, personal and unique gift wraps are suitable for all occasions. Even better, they're re-usable and some are even made of recycled materials.
Raffia can also add a really nice accent to your packages and it's rather inexpensive. Cut a bunch of 6 to 10" pieces and form a thick bow. Fluff up and attach to your packages with a glue gun.
Remember that wrapping supplies tend to go on sale the day after a holiday. This is a great time to restock your inventory and get a jumpstart on the next gift giving event. Look for paper supplies and accents that can be used year-round. Your best bet is solid colors, patterns and prints that are not holiday-specific like checkerboard, flowers or animals. Store your supplies in a logical place; somewhere dry and that you are able to access easily.
With gift wrapping, there is no end to the possibilities. It's all up to you.
