Automotive Cam Position Sensors Market: Technological Breakthroughs By 2025
An automotive cam position sensor determines which cylinder is firing to establish injector synchronization and coil firing sequence in a distributor-less ignition system. The camshaft position sensor is located in the cylinder head of the engine and has a cylindrical portion that inserts into the head. The engine control unit gathers inputs from sensors and other devices to keep the engine running. The fuel injectors use the data from the cam position sensor to know when to fire. Cam position sensors operate on pulse detection and counting. The fundamental components of these sensors include a toothed disc mounted on the shaft, a stationary detector, and an electronic circuit. The disc has teeth or marks distributed evenly around its circumference.
