Haptic Interface Market Global Market - Overview:Haptic Interface is a technology that enables humans to interact with computers, laptops and smartphones through body sensations and body movements. Haptic refers to a human computer interaction technology that incorporates tactile feedback or other body sensations to perform actions or task on a computing device. Haptic interface has inbuilt sensors that send an electrical signal to the computer based on different sensory movements or interactions. Each electrical signal is interpreted by the computer to implement a process or action. Haptic interface is primarily used in virtual reality environments, where an individual interacts with virtual objects and elements. Haptic feedback is a force or touch feedback in a man–machine interface which allows computer simulations of various tasks to relay realistic, tangible sensations to a user. Haptic devices are controlled in one of two ways namely, impedance or admittance control. Impedance control of a robot involves using motion input from the manipulator and also calculates the corresponding forces specific to a given system model. Admittance control of robot measures forces with a load cell and calculates the corresponding motion of the endpoint according to the simulation equations of motion and thus position control approaches are used to move the robot accordingly. Different haptic devices that enables physical contact between computer and users are joysticks and data gloves that senses the body movement. Also, haptic interface has its application in games, multimedia publishing, scientific discovery, arts & creation, editing sounds & images, vehicle operation & control rooms, telerobotics & teleoperation, education & training and others.
The key driving factor for haptic interface is increasing adoption of haptic in consumer electronic devices, growing demand for haptic in gaming consoles and demand for interactive sensory experience. Power consumption is a major challenge that is expected to affect the performance of haptic enabled devices. Declining adoption of force feedback haptic technology due to high cost is hindering the growth of haptic interface market.
