Robin‘s 13: The Last Supper re-interpreted

2010 one of world‘s greatest photo adventures takes place in Las Vegas

London – 1498 Leonardo DaVinci finalised one of the most famous and widely discussed paintings of all times: The Last Supper. In 2010 internationally renowned photographer Robin Preston is going to create his vision of The Last Supper. At Easter 2010 his interpretation of the famous motive will be carried out over 8 days in Las Vegas. The aim is to create a 2,80 x 30 meter poster by using state of the art technology from Nikon, HP, Nik Software, Wacom and Adobe.

The Last Supper is a constant source of inspiration for modern artists. Not only its metaphorical references but also the use of perspective and light basically demand a photographical interpretation of the motive.

„The Last Supper has been on my mind for quite a while“, states the photographer Robin Preston. „Only today the D3x enables me to create the project the way I want to.“
Not only the technical requirements are important in the creation of the „Last Supper“. For Preston it was obvious that he could only carry through DaVincis metaphorical and symbolic meanings on Easter, the one date DaVinci has pointed out himself.

Las Vegas was chosen deliberately, as a place of modern myth as Preston explains:
„Imagine DaVinci living today. He would probably be a photographer shooting his „Last Supper“ in Las Vegas. And this is what we‘re going to carry out in the near future. I want to create a new vision of the „Last Supper“, using modern iconographic characters of the western world. Las Vegas matches as a place of immense highs and lows. Easter 2010 will be the time we will create a new interpretation of „The Last Supper“ by using 50‘s Pin-Up-Girls and Elvis impersonators.“

Due to the cooperation of companies like Nikon, HP, Nik Software, Wacom and Adobe not only the shoot itself will be an impressive event but also the conversion of the digital full frame shot to a gigantic 2,80 x 30 large format print.

About Robin Preston

Robin Preston (http://www.robin-preston.com) is a photographer and „Image Maker“. For the last 28 years he‘s been working as a professional photographer and image maker, mainly for clients in the automotive industry,! e.g. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bentley, Nissan and Mazda, but also for consumer goods, travel and various other areas as e.g. Nintendo, Schwarzkopf or Loreal.

Robin Preston went to St. Martins School of Art in London. In the 70‘s he learned analogue retouching and post production in the graphic industry. Later he became a director and co-owner of the largest professional colour laboratory in Germany.
