TeachMeIT launches Curriculum for Security+ Certification

New Jersey, US: TeachMeIT, a leading provider of online courses in IT and desktop applications, has launched the curriculum for Security+ Certification. The TeachMeIT security+ curriculum is principally designed for learners IT professionals preparing for TruSecure ICSA Certified Security Associate (TICSA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or CompTIA security+ certification.

Security+ Certification helps learner to identify and help mitigate security risks. It allows learners to gain knowledge and apply the basic principles of cryptography, keys, and certificates. It helps security managers and administrators to monitor and help secure vulnerabilities in TCP/IP and network infrastructure. With Security+ certification learners know how to protect e-mail, RAS, VPNs, wireless services, and other online communications. In addition, the certification teaches learners to become skilled at creating an operational security plan and building an organizational security program.

The first course in the TeachMeIT Security+ Certification is titled ‘General Security Concepts’ and provides an overview of various security concepts, such as security goals, assets, risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.

‘Network Infrastructure Security Part I and II’ are the second and the third course in the Security+ certification curriculum. They detail the learner about intrusion points, intrusion detection systems, intrusion detection methods, and incident response. The courses also teach the learner about various connectivity devices and transmission and storage media.

The fourth course titled ‘Communication Security’ covers remote access and wireless technologies including 802.1x, VPN, SSH, WEP, and WAP and vulnerabilities associated with these technologies It also cover concepts related to security aspects and vulnerabilities of e-mail and the Web. The fifth course ‘Cryptography Concepts’ includes basic concepts of cryptography, the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) system, digital certificates, and PKI trust models and standards. The sixth course in the curriculum on ‘Operational and Organizational Security’ identifies concepts related to backup, recovery, disaster recovery plan, and business continuity management. Additionally, the course provides information on security documentation, security policies and procedures, security education programs as well as risk management and forensics.
