Silicon Institute of Technology: Setting a Milestone in the History of Innovation

28th June 2018 - Bhubaneswar, Odisha: We are really happy to announce that this is indeed a proud moment for everyone associated with Silicon & people of Odisha, Silicon Institute of Technology wins the second runner-up prize in the finals of India's most prestigious Innovation Event - Smart India Hackathon 2018 - Hardware Edition, held at IIT Kharagpur. Many many congratulations to the team for setting a milestone in the history of innovation.

The Team Askurvara from Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar was the second runner-up and awarded Rs 50,000 cash prize. Team Aksurvara worked on a project related to agriculture, where they demonstrated a working prototype for detecting soil nutrients in real-time using various sensors. The 6-member team from Silicon consisted of Monidipa Ghosh (7th EEE), Kaustav Purkait (5th ECE), Tushar (7th EEE), Ajeet Pattanaik (7th EEE), Sohini Acharya (7th EEE), and J Krithika (7th ECE). The team was headed by Monidipa Ghosh.

This project idea demonstrated by Team Askurvara from Silicon Institute of Technology has also been selected by CII, Kolkata, where Monidipa and Tushar will be representing Silicon.

Total nine teams participated in the grand finals of Smart India Hackathon 2018 (Hardware Edition) in Agricultural Technologies Sector, which was a 5-day long mega event at IIT Kharagpur. Each team worked hard to build hardware solutions as working prototypes, making the world see some of the most ingenious ideas on board that could take our nation forward. The event was judged by an External Jury consisting of top entrepreneurs and partners of leading business incubators in the Agri-Tech sector, such as a-IDEA, Omnivore, AgNext, Bharat Innovations Fund, and Ankur Capital.
