Chiropractor and Clinical Nutritionist, Dr. Craig S. Rubenstein invited as nutritional authority at the 1st Annual Non-Pharmalogical and Complementary Medicine for the Treatment of Chronic Pain Symposium

This one of a kind conference was hosted by Mather Hospital Northwell Health’s Back and Neck Pain Center at John T. Mather Hospital, NY, a leader in integrated and interdisciplinary spine care.

This inter-disciplinary symposium was attended by practitioners in multiple fields including anesthesiologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, physical therapists, acupuncturists, surgeons, chiropractors, pain management specialists, primary care and internal medicine physicians, as well as registered nurses and nurse practitioners.

Dr. Rubenstein is affiliated with Mather Hospital‘s Chiropractic Collaboration Program since it’s inception. Dr. Rubenstein has also obtained certification as a Primary Spine Care Practitioner.

“A breakthrough, is the only way I can explain both the Non-Pharma Symposium and Mather Hospital’s Back and Neck Pain Center’s integrated approach to chronic pain. It is the first of its kind anywhere in the area“, states Dr. Rubenstein.

“Where else, for the first time could you find Chiropractor’s sitting amongst their medical colleagues in a collaborative fashion, to discuss non opiate pain options, looking only to enhance patient outcomes.”

This event gives Chiropractor’s and their medical counterparts a setting to present and discuss each professions expertise in dealing with chronic pain and a forum to create an understanding of how to integrate each professions techniques.

The Non-Pharmalogical and Complementary Medicine for the Treatment of Chronic Pain Symposium was moderated by administrative director and chiropractor, David J. BenEliyahu.

The format for the symposium included nine specific nonpharmacological approaches to chronic pain presentations. Dr. Rubenstein explains that the different lectures ranged in topics from implantation of pain neuromodulators to yoga, aromatherapy and nutritional supplementation.

Other presentations revolved around anti-inflammatory diets, the psychology of mindfulness, acupuncture and physical therapy.

Dr. Rubenstein‘s role as an expert presenter along with other practitioners on the speaker panel was to in enlighten their fellow practitioners on specific nonpharmacological approaches to chronic pain.

Dr. Rubenstein‘s presentation was on the use of herbs, vitamins and other nutraceuticals to reduce or eliminate the need for opiates.

Dr. Rubenstein maintains two chiropractic care clinics, one in New York City and the other in Medford, Long Island.

Along with being a primary spine care practitioner, Dr. Rubenstein is also a certified clinical nutritionist and diplomate of the American clinical board of nutrition. Dr. Rubenstein is also eligible to sit for his diplomate exams in both applied kinesiology and chiropractic neurology. Due to Dr. Rubenstein‘s training, he treats patients with multi faceted approach which blends chiropractic, functional neurology, clinical nutrition and applied kinesiology.
