Marrakesh, Global Marketplace For Sustainable Living

Marrakesh, Global Marketplace For Sustainable Living

New Fashion and Textile “Glo-Op” Gives Customers Unprecedented Worldwide Access to Affordable, Ethical Products

WHAT:
Today, Marrakesh, the first sustainable, ethical product, global marketplace launches online. Marrakesh is a community of thousands of individuals and brands who believe in the power of sustainable living to change the world. Together, they are giving slow fashion a voice. As the first global co-op or “Glo-Op” in the world, Marrakesh shares equity with its vendors. Moreover, the platform is reducing links in the supply chain by giving sustainable producers direct access to conscious consumers with their novel application of the peer to peer model. Through their online marketplace, Marrakesh helps companies generate profit that will be reinvested into their brand so they can meet even higher sustainability standards.

As a marketplace for sustainable production and consumption, Marrakesh is named after both the timeless Marketplace, Marrakesh, filled with unique wonders as well as the Marrakesh Agreement of 1994, where 124 nations came together in Morocco to form what is now the WTO (world trade organization). This agreement was meant to achieve greater equity and transparency in global trade, especially pertaining to agriculture, fashion and textiles.

WHY:
This new platform empowers shoppers to vote with their wallets and easily make a difference in the world. Since Marrakesh provides only ethical products, shoppers can enter the site and focus on finding the styles and prices they love.
Marrakesh is the only online store to take the "slow fashion" movement one step further by putting it into the hands of anyone from individuals to brands who are producing responsibly. This peer to peer model allows Marrakesh to offer the largest selection and price range of stylish sustainable items in the world.
The fashion industry's supply chain includes everything from worker exploitation to the top 4 biggest polluting industries of agriculture, livestock, transport, electricity and more. Because it's supply chain is all encompassing, transforming it to be more sustainable and ethical, could actually save the world.

Marrakesh is a community of individuals and brands who believe in the power of sustainable living to change the world. It is their passion that inspired us to create a truly ethical marketplace in which everyone prospers and can make even more change towards the causes they care about. In order to do this Marrakesh became the first ever global co-op or glo-op 🙂 This means that our vendors get equity and shoppers get membership benefits which can also sometimes mean equity.

Daniella (Dani) Zakon, Founder & CEO, Age 28
Richard Rubenstein, Co-Founder and CMO
