Thompson & Knight Expands International Energy Practice

Houston (October 22, 2009) - The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its International Energy Practice Group with the addition of Partner William Prescott Mills Schwind and Associate Gabriel Salinas, who join the Firm’s Houston office.

Schwind focuses his practice on international energy and natural resources, with a particular emphasis on upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas transactions. Advising foreign and domestic companies and individuals in matters across the globe, he devotes much of his practice to assisting clients throughout Latin America and Africa. His experience in oil and gas exploration and production projects includes concessions, production sharing contracts, operating agreements, participation agreements, farm-in arrangements, and drilling contracts. He also coordinates foreign and domestic acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas producing properties and infrastructure; negotiates oil and gas transportation and processing arrangements, including with respect to crude oil and natural gas pipelines, lifting arrangements, fractionation, and storage projects; and structures crude oil processing agreements for petrochemical facilities.

Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, Schwind received his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law and his B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College. Additionally, he studied at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo and practiced law in Brazil for three years, giving him unique insight into Latin American culture and business climate.

Salinas focuses his practice on energy and corporate matters, with a particular emphasis on Latin American transactions. Fluent in English and Spanish, he received his LL.M. from Harvard Law School; his J.D., with honors, from Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey; and his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Elmhurst College.
