Green Irene Certifies Over 500 Eco-Consultants in 46 States

Green Irene LLC, which provides eco-consulting services in homes and offices throughout the nation, has announced that it has trained over 500 Eco-Consultants in 46 states since its inception two years ago. As a result, the company has trained more Eco-Consultants than any other organization, according to Rosamaria Caballero, co-founder and the original "Green Irene."

"We train 30 to 50 new Eco-Consultants each month, helping them launch their local green consulting practices," Caballero said. "Our focus is on specialized training for our Eco-Consultants so they can teach people how to save thousands of dollars on their bills by making easy changes to their homes and lifestyles – without turning going green into a hobby. We also sell Green Irene-recommended products and help implement solutions. Our business model is a huge contributor to why we are the leading green home consulting service firm in the country."

As part of Green Irene's flagship service, the 90-minute Green Home Makeover, Eco-Consultants survey an individual's home to develop a set of recommendations for energy conservation improvements, energy efficient lighting replacements, water conservation tools, indoor air quality improvements and ways to reduce harmful chemicals in the home. They also offer researched and recommended green products that are designed to make homes more eco-friendly. The Green Home Makeover is designed to be affordable, at a fee of $99.

According to Caballero, Green Irene teaches Eco-Consultants to assist families in identifying and implementing green home solutions that can lead them to a healthier, safer and more sustainable lifestyle – while saving money by reducing energy and water use.

"All of our Eco-Consultants, or as we like to refer to them, 'Ecopreneurs,' go through a complete training process so they fully understand what it means to be eco-friendly and can successfully launch their businesses," Caballero said.

The training is delivered through Web-based video and other online tools, which they complete on their own schedule. There is also supplemental reading through the company's "Ask Green Irene" database and its independent, authorized Eco-Consultants use checklists and reports in their practice which are updated daily by our green research team, Caballero said.

In addition, a number of the Eco-Consultants are accredited by The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. Others are interior designers, green cleaning business owners, and energy auditors. "These skills add an important dimension to our core Green Home Makeover consulting service," Caballero said, but noted that a mother with young children or a retired person who knows their community also provides great value to their clients. "These Ecopreneurs are a force for positive green change in their community. They are not just doing this for money, but to have the tools and support to help their neighbors live a more sustainable life."

Green Irene Eco-Consultants also hold free GO GREEN Workshops in their communities, which provide some of the information otherwise available in one-on-one consulting. And, they sponsor Green Fundraisers for non-profit groups looking for an eco-friendly way to raise funds.

Caballero and husband, PJ Stafford, founded Green Irene in 2007 using a direct sales model. The consulting services combined with product sales gives Eco-Consultants the opportunity to earn a part-time, professional income doing something worthwhile from which they can be proud. "We felt compelled to start Green Irene because we saw there was a gap between the large amount of information available about greening one's home and the fact that few people seemed willing to undertake the process because of the amount of work involved," Caballero said.

According to Caballero, it can be difficult to run a profitable solo Eco-Consulting practice because so much time is required for research, product selection, marketing and other non-billable activities.
