MIPS Technologies Licenses MIPS32® Architecture to Altera Corporation

MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer, home networking, wireless, communications and business applications, today announced that Altera Corporation licensed its MIPS32® architecture, marking the entry of the MIPS® architecture into the FPGA channel.

“The MIPS architecture is firmly established within many networking, communications and multimedia systems, and our decision to license the MIPS32 architecture allows us to provide more options for FPGA customers in these markets,” said Vince Hu, vice president of product and corporate marketing, Altera.
