The extravagant, colorful and passionate life of the Mexican artists Frida Kahlo is told through her 66 self-portraits, hundreds of photographs and original Mexican artifacts presented in the exhibition “Viva La Vida” in the Kunstmuseum Gehrke- Remund in Baden-Baden.
The exhibition has now been extended for the third and last time through January 7th 2018.
Several historical documentary videos are also shown in the exhibition to illustrate Frida Kahlo life, Diego Rivera, Leon Trotsky and the process to replicate the paintings of Frida.
The Kunstmuseum Gehrke- Remund. is the only institution worldwide which has obtained the authorization from © Banco de México Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo Museums Trust / VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2008 to replicate all the paintings of Frida Kahlo.
This exhibition is the result of 35 years of research and work from each of the Museum founders: Hans-Jürgen Gehrke and Dr. Mariella C. Remund.
The Museum and the exhibition has been recognized by a research supported by CONACULTA (Mexican Secretary for Culture and the Arts) as one of the two treasures of the Mexican culture existing in Germany and outside of Mexico.

The Kunstmuseum Gehrke-Remund is a privately owned monographic art museum founded in 2008. The objective of the Kunstmuseum Gehrke-Remund is to offer the visitors a complete view of the entire work of the Mexican artist, thus allowing to follow Kahlo’s development from the very early works to her maturity. The paintings shown in the Museum are hand-painted licensed replicas from © Banco de México Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo Museums Trust / VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2008.

The founders of the Art Museum are Hans-Jürgen Gehrke and Prof. Dr. Mariella C. Remund. Both are art patrons, collectors and passionate art historians.
They have spent over 25 years in executive positions in multinational corporations and academic organizations in Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, USA, Spain, Mexico, South America and China.

The pieces are two “Resplandor”, head covers as Frida Kahlo used to wear and as she painted in two of her paintings. “Being able to exhibit the two “Resplandor” is of high cultural and artistic value, to our knowledge no museum in Europe has even shown such pieces before”, said Mr. Gehrke, Museum Director. The Resplandor (meaning “The Glowing”) is a head cover made of lace, coloured satin ribbon and white
